Today’s travelers know exactly what they need! In a survey released, the majority of travelers (86%) said that the smell of fresh air and linens is a better indicator to them that the room is clean, in comparison to the smell of cleaning products. Relying on this survey conducted, Hampton Hotels has announced a brand-wide initiative to “non-scent” its more than 145,000 hotel rooms in order to satisfy its customers. Created through a joint effort with Proctor & Gamble’s Febreze® (the Linen and Sky Brand), the Non-Scents is a freshening program to leave the room smelling with fresh, clean air, rather than the fake, perfumed air. The rooms will be wiped off all odors of bathroom or window cleaner, a remnant of the previous night’s take out or even a hint of perfume.
Senior Director of product and service development for Hampton Hotels, Kurt Smith said, “Part of our 100% satisfaction guarantee is ensuring we do everything we can to let our guests have a pleasurable stay while appealing to all the senses- we’ve accomplished that with all our bed, complimentary HSIA, Wi-Fi and our on the House Hot breakfast. Non-scents is our way of evoking that guarantee by continuing to surprise and delight our guests via some of the finer senses” While this program of Hampton Hotels begs to differ from others, I fail to see how lodgers will register the finer details of fresh air.”
