Quirky offerings are a norm in the hospitality industry. And catering to the unique whims of shopaholics is an exotic new hotel in London that promises to transport guests to Harrods via a secret tunnel built within its periphery! Yes, that’s right!
The £300m luxury project in Knightsbridge is situated only at a minute’s distance from the iconic London department store. It was recently kickstarted after Kensington and Chelsea’s planning committee granted Singapore’s City Developments Limited (CDL) the rights to develop the site as a six-star property. The proposed scheme on completion will feature 120 rooms across eight above-ground floors and three basement levels, with 23,000 sq. ft of retail space and a spa. However, the hotel’s highlight is a disused underground pedestrian and goods tunnel that will link it to Harrods. Talk about hidden shopping rendezvous!
Well, Luxury with a twist just got a name! Commenting on the project, CDL executive chairman Say Kwek Leng Beng in a statement said: “This site offers CDL one of the best opportunities to develop an outstanding hotel in one of the prime locations in central London. He further added, “We are tremendously excited by this and the value it will bring to our London portfolio and our valued clients.
