Marriott will take on AirBnB by introducing a fleet of luxury holiday homes and villas

Holiday resorts are great but sometimes all we crave for is a home away from home. And though Airbnb has been doing a great job at fulfilling this demand, there’s a competition soon blossoming in this department. For instance, we now have Marriott following into the former’s footsteps with the all-new Homes and Villas project. Set to launch this week, the exciting new venture promises exotic staycations for that wander lusting like us.

A collection of over 2000 residences, Homes and Villas by Marriott International will feature vacation rentals across 100 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. The project is an expansion of the Tribute Portfolio Homes – a pilot program that was launched in London last year and encompassed over 340 homes by London-based property management company Hostmaker. In its revamped version, guests will be able to experience stays at plush homes featuring one or more bedrooms, a full kitchen, and in-unit laundry. They will also have access to round-the-clock customer support as well as an in-person welcome and check-in through Hostmaker.

Commenting on the project, Adam Malamut, chief customer experience officer at Marriott International in a statement said, “Expanding into home sharing is an opportunity to deepen relationships with our most loyal guests by delivering new experiences designed to reflect how they travel.” While further details on the project are currently unknown, this one sure makes for a fine feather in the Marriott cap!
