New York’s Surrey hotel is the destination for art connoisseurs

If you are a contemporary art connoisseur visiting New York, then the Surrey hotel on East 76th Street is where you must stay. The perfect hotel for the contemporary art lover will find contemporary artworks displayed all across the hotel’s lobby, rooms, and bar. The lobby features a video work by South African artist William Kentridge, two photos by New York artist Jenny Holzer, and Pop artist Claes Oldenburg’s Study for Sneaker Lace – White painting. Interior designer Lauren Rottet deserves credit for installing these beautiful artworks across the hotel.

For the bar, Rottet has mixed the contemporary (Donald Sultan prints) and the traditional (wallpaper inspired by patterns found in 19th century France). And if money is not a concern for you, then you must definitely opt for the Presidential Suite. A luxurious room, it is packed full of work by Mel Bochner, Ann Hamilton, Jonathan Borofsky, and Richard Serra.
A one of a kind art experience, the Surrey hotel is a must-visit for every art connoisseur.
