Hersha Hospitality seems to be on a roll by opening Duane Street Hotel and now Nu Street Hotel in Brooklyn. Downtown Brooklyn hasn’t witnessed a boutique hotel before this. Datumzero Design Office takes credit for desiging this hotel with its 93 rooms. The type of acommodation offered here is Nu Standard, Nu Friends Suite and Nu Urban Suite. Rooms have cork flooring, organic bedding materials and custom furnishings crafted from FSC- certified, sustainably harvested teak wood. Rooms also come with latest 32″ flat-screen televisions with docks for audio, video and computer electronics and complementary wifi access. Sounds like they are up to date in the entertainment department. he Nu Friends Suites are equipped with bunk beds which sounds very dorm or hostel style but is is obviously far more stylish. Nu Urban Suites include a cozy bed with leather surroundings, a sitting area and custom hammocks, I love the idea of these hammocks. The bathrooms have stone and glass showers, rain head showers and Aveda bath products, sounds pretty luxurius. A neat little feature is there are chalkboard walls allowing guests to leave notes for housekeeping, some extra towels please.
The Nu Street Hotel has the regular features of a bar, gym and bicyle storage and use service. The lobby is set up like a business center, it has custom oncierge service and a corner to just hang out and kill some time. The rooms go at $200 per night minimum, not a bad deal.
