Suite of the Week: The enchanting Ponte Vecchio suite at the Portrait Firenze, Florence

The historical architecture and cultural appeal of Florence is possibly one of the primary reasons I visit the city. From the inspiring Ponte Vecchio to the dreamy Florentine landscape, the poetic city of Florence always has a piece of my heart. A visit to the city is incomplete without a stay at the Portrait Firenze, the Ferragamo family’s own boutique property. Listed among the Leading Hotels of the World, the five-star luxury hotel in Florence encapsulates the concept of luxury and distinguishes it from almost any other hotel in the city.

Florentine architect Michele Bönan has capitalized on the hotel’s riverside location and created a masterpiece amidst the hustle and bustle of this historically-rich city. The theme of the boutique property is classic and contemporary, which blends beautifully with the graceful city of Florence.

Portrait Firenze houses Caffè dell’Oro bistrot, that offers the most authentic Italian cuisine by the riverside, creating the perfect setting for romantic dinners.

Unlike most hotels, this property is an all-suite hotel, with some offering beautiful views of the River Arno. Interestingly, the boutique hotel offers a bouquet of accommodation options – a choice of ten beautifully furnished suites, with most offering views of the river. While each suite is alluring and charming in its own way, a stay at the hotel’s Ponte Vecchio suite is highly recommended.

Perched on the 6th floor of the hotel, the suite overlooks the glistening river, paving way for enchanting private dinners on your personal riverfront terrace. Spanning 120 sqm, the suite houses two bedrooms dressed up in a sophisticated color palette of grey and white.

The suite is bathed in Italian accents, adorned with elegant fittings. The dining room is possibly my favorite area of the suite with remarkably chic warm grey chairs and deep black light fittings. A colossal tub occupies centre-stage in the double vanity white-clad master bathroom.
The impeccably designed suite entails two large bathrooms, two closets, a lounge area, a living area and a dining space. All your in-room dining requirements can be meticulously handled in the en-suite kitchenette, which also doubles up as a bar.
