Suite of the Week: The soothing Courtyard Suite at the Amansara, Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is possibly one of the primary reasons I want to visit the picturesque city of Siem Reap. Thankfully, an Aman outpost is nestled only ten minutes from the entrance to Cambodia’s UNESCO heritage site. The Amansara is the hospitality group’s first venture in Cambodia, and is everything one can imagine.

Carved into a serene piece of land, the Amansara is home to 24 suites, each housing its own private courtyard while 12 suites house their own private swimming pool. Being a five-star property, it has an exhausting roster of amenities; namely its two swimming pools, dining room serving eclectic cuisines, intimate spaces for private dinners and a walk-in cheese and wine cellar. Of course, the showstopper is their internationally acclaimed spa, the Aman Spa.

If you plan to visit this boutique property, a stay at their Courtyard Suite is highly recommended. The spacious open-plan layout entails a living and sleeping area, with a king-sized bed, a colossal writing desk and a sofa. Bathed in timber finishes and calming neutral tones, the luxurious suite draws a design parallel to its natural surroundings. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows bathe you in sunlight, and lead you to your private courtyard. The impeccably designed open-plan bathroom is perhaps my favorite element, with its double vanities and separate shower area.

A stay at the suite comes with an impressive range of perks; like a two-way airport or city transfer, immigration assistance, daily guided excursions to the Angkor temples, daily breakfast coupled with lunch or dinner and laundry (excluding dry-cleaning).
