Suite of the Week: The sophisticated Deluxe Courtyard Suite at The Temple House, Chengdu

Amidst the hustle and bustle of Chengdu, is the Temple House. True to its name, the peaceful boutique retreat is this week’s favourite. Designed by UK-based MAKE Architects, the hotel is an eclectic mix of traditional Chinese architecture coupled with avant-garde British design, balancing local culture with a contemporary vibe.

The hotel pays tribute to the Chinese heritage with several Chinese courtyards and historic buildings, and is an integral component of the Chengdu Daci Temple Cultural and Commercial Complex comprising six historic buildings. The hotel features 100 rooms and 42 residences (serviced apartments).
Perched on level one, the 215 sq m Deluxe Courtyard Suite is our most preferred accommodation at this refined retreat. The fine-print of this two-level residence entails 2 separate bedrooms, a living area and a beautifully designed spa-inspired bathroom with limestone-clad tub and a walk-in rain shower. Rooms are decked up with dark timber and light interiors, with an overall monochromatic palette of whites and light oak. The beauty of the suite is the custom-made furniture and traditional Chinese screens that add to its aesthetic value.

Even though the suite is brimming with Chinese culture, it does not fail to impress the luxury lovers; from the 46-inch Interactive TV and Bose® Bluetooth® portable speaker to the Bowers & Wilkins sound bar and the espresso machine.

A roster of perks is included with your stay. Arrive in style at the hotel with complimentary transfers; spend mornings indulging in yoga lessons or on a cycling tour in the city. Evenings can be spent at the in-house cooking class, a tea plantation tour, or pampering yourself with a MIXUN Spa treatment.
