Dior launches a gemstone-rich collection of Gem Dior watches and jewelry

Nearly a decade ago Dior exhibited expert knowledge of jewelry with ‘Haute Joaillerie’ watch, La Mini D de Dior timepieces. They are now bringing something more apt for formal events, is less of an investment but still rides high on style. Victoire de Castellane is launching a new line of abstract, 1970s-flavored watches and jewelry called Gem Dior. Each creation features patches of various gemstones inspired by Couture and Mr. Dior’s colorful fabric samples akin to mineral strata. These seven stunning watch models comprising of irregular, octagonal faces, clasp-less bracelets, and an array of gemstones lined together is joined by no less than 11 pieces of jewelry — rings, bracelets, and earrings, that draw inspiration from the geometry of stones. The collection displays liberal use of malachite, lapis lazuli, carnelian, pink opal, and tiger’s eye, speaking of gemstones. Simultaneously, the subtle monochrome looks to come in yellow, pink, or white gold encrusted with a sprinkle of pavéd diamonds.

Victoire de Castellane describes the style of the collection as abstract-organic, starring round dials (27 mm case) and supple, mesh bracelets. The watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters (98 feet). The 8k yellow gold watch set with six diamonds comes with an interchangeable black alligator bracelet and a quartz movement that’s common to all variations. Timepieces start at $4500 for a steel and black mother-of-pearl edition, while a yellow gold, diamond, and onyx version is priced at $38,000.
