Israel-based diamond jewelry company Leibish & Co. has unveiled a 3.37-carat Fancy Intense Pinkish Purple diamond with VS2 clarity, dubbed the Purple Orchid diamond. Natural colored diamonds are rare in their own right, but purple diamonds are nearly impossible to find. After the rough diamond was found in a South African mine, it was carefully polished over a period of four months to reveal the color of a gorgeous radiant purple Orchid in full bloom.
The unveiling of the rare $4 Million diamond couldn’t have happened at a better time, as the spring-like Orchid hue happens to be the Pantone Color of the Year. Pantone, the leading authority on the hues used in paint, fabrics and manufacturing described the ‘Radiant Orchid’ as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones” that “inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health.”
The Purple Orchid Diamond will be on display for the first time at the upcoming Hong Kong Jewelry and Gem Fair.
