Manish Malhotra Celebrates 100 Years of Indian Cinema at Pratham Ball, London


Celebrated Fashion Designer Manish Malhotra presented his festive collection celebrating 100 years of Indian Cinema in London at the Annual Gala at Grosvenor House in London on September 28, 2013.
An ardent movie fan Manish Malhotra created the magic of fashion for many Bollywood stars. The Pratham ARTiculate Ball featured a unique collection by designer to the stars Manish Malhotra, inspired by the three main eras of fashion in Indian cinema, from 1913 to 2013. The runway show recreated the magic of the past decades of the movies and paid homage to every iconic period of Indian cinema. Malhotra through his collection took the audience through the black and white era of “Mughal-e-Azam” and “Awara” to the most current trends in Bollywood. The collection adorned in fabrics such as chiffons, georgette, silks and net dominated the runway. In the perfect Manish Malhotra style, the collection was embellished with sequins and Kashmiri embroidery with a varied colour palette ranging from ethereal white to vibrant red. Bollywood actors, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta walked the ramp for the designer. The event was attended by Gurinder Chadha, Fardeen & Natasha Khan, Pamela Grover and Rekha Tourani to name a few.

Proceeds from ticket sales and an exclusive live auction will go towards the Pratham Institute, which focuses on providing young people with the skills needed to address India’s growing need for skilled labour.
