Mickey Mouse sarees are now all the rage thanks to Disney and Satya Paul’s new Mono Pop Collection

If you would have asked us ten years back if we could have ever imagined Mickey Mouse to feature on a saree, chances are we would have snottily scoffed at you. But then again, ten years back we didn’t have Masaba Gupta. The talented high priestess of prints along with Satya Paul (for the last time, this is her farewell of sorts to the brand) and Disney recently launched a fun, quirky, big time nostalgia-inducing line that will send you trotting down memory lane faster than you can say ‘pop’. Channelling retro chic, the collection boasts of bold prints and standout graphics in trademark Disney hues of monochrome and sepia with spurts of yellow and a distinct fire engine red which we absolutely adore. Fashion world favourites and childhood icons, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will also make their presence abundantly felt throughout the collection and we sure aren’t complaining. Before Satya Paul jumped on the bandwagon, leading luxury brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs and Elie Saab all took the darling Disney route to much acclaim and success.

Titled ‘Disney Mono Pop by Satya Paul’, the artistic, avant-garde line was launched at a stylish soirée held at the Satya Paul store in the Palladium Mall with Mumbai’s fashion elite all in attendance – Mandira Bedi, Sidharth Roy Kapur, Masaba Gupta, Shaheen Abbas, Vidya Malwade and Dipti Bhatnagar are some of the names spotted at the event. The stunning Esha Gupta who was also at the do, stole the spotlight in an uber cute ‘Minnie Mono Pop saree’ from the collection.

The whimsical collection includes printed sarees (starting at Rs.11,995) and a whole host of trendy ready-to-wear pieces such as tunics, scarves, stoles, ties, and accessories (starting at Rs.2995) and is now available for retail at flagship Satya Paul stores nationwide and for e-tail, through an exclusive tie-up with Jabong.com.
