While Hollywood and couture have always gone hand-in-hand, we think it’s safe to say Paul Smith’s recently-launched new capsule collection is truly one of a kind! Inspired by the iconic Men in Black series, (for which Paul Smith has designed as well) this new collection of apparel and accessories pays homage to the cult classic’s most memorable aliens and icons.
And while the collection caters to men, women and children – the focal point and piece de resistance of the whole ensemble is Paul Smith’s “A Suit To Travel In”. The dapper black suit features some of the most colouful alien characters from the franchise and even flaunts the circular logo of Men in Black on a button on each jacket cuff!
More casual pieces from the collection include a quirky alien-print hoodie and sweatshirt, and a smart polo shirt – while the accessories on offer boast a black tie with a repeated sunglass graphic, a pocket square and a lightweight scarf, a money clip and cufflinks, socks in bold colours and embroidered alien motifs, and an alien-print leather wallet and iPhone case.
In collaboration with costume designer Penny Rose, Paul Smith has also designed custom pieces for five of the agency’s most illustrious men and women in black including Agents H and M. The suit worn by Agent H challenges the constrictions of the Men in Black uniform with a colourful lining and a pair of Paul Smith signature stripe socks, while Agent M flaunts a two-button double breasted trouser suit. Both silhouettes are made from the designers “A Suit To Travel In” cloth.
And if that’s not enough, fans should also look out for Paul Smith himself when they watch Men in Black: International, we’ve heard insiders say the designer might be making an appearance in the film!
The Paul Smith and Men in Black: International capsule collection has been available on PaulSmith.com and selected Paul Smith shops since May however the movie just released in the UK and US last week! We can’t for the aliens to hit our shores, how about you?
