Review: A taste of the Turkish Food Festival at Sofitel Mumbai BKC

Sofitel Mumbai BKC recently hosted the delectable Turkish Food Festival in association with Raffles Istanbul and IndiGo that was scheduled from 14th to 23rd June 2019 at the All-Day Dining – Pondichéry Café. The festival was inaugurated with an extravagant cultural dance performance by a professional Turkish Dance Troupe, who has been specially flown down by the luxury hotel. To make it a more real and personalised food sojourn, the 10-day exotic food festival had chefs coming all the way from Raffles Istanbul to give guests an authentic taste of their homeland.

The special menu was curated by expert Chefs Mehmet Ogurtan and Hakan Guzelkokar from Raffles Istanbul for the food festival in Mumbai. The hotel which is known for pulling off gorgeous food festivals aced it yet again with the Turkish décor and vibrant vibe. Turkish cuisine is largely the heritage of the Ottoman cuisine, which is a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cuisine. Delicacies such as the Tas Kebab, Chicken Mahmudiye, Patlıcan Kebab, Lamb Döner Shrimp Guveç, Vegetable Crockpot and more were a part of the menu. We loved the succulent shawarmas. Another hit was the Firinda Kabak-Zucchini with cream and parmesan cheese.

The Mixed Seafood Casserole with its spot-on flavors also stole the show. We also loved the Tavek Sote- sauteed chicken. For dessert options such as Irmik Halva with Pine Nut, Oven Baked Rice Pudding, Candied Pumpkin left us with the dreamiest of food-comas. The festival celebrated the beauty of the Turkish cuisine in all its glory and regaled us with its tantalizing flavors.
