Review: L’Occitane’s new almond range is a remedy for dry, lifeless skin

The world is full of beautiful women and more chock-full of beauty brands that aim and proclaim to make them stay exactly that way! For those who are captivated with skincare, the French skin-care company, L’Occitane is no strange name. Hailing from Provence, the hilly, Mediterranean-region home, L’Occitane strikes a chord with the fairer sex with its legendary luxe soaps, scrubs, and fragrances. Formulated with a host of natural ingredients like lavender, lemon, and verbena, they have made a permanent place on our shelves. I have always loved their invigorating body exfoliators and divine-smelling shower gels, but this time I tried my hand (and body) at LOccitane’s newest almond range that includes Almond Shower Oil, Almond Shower scrub, and Almond Supple Skin Oil. I am a work-from-home mom of two daughters and time is always a pressing issue which is why I rely on brands that I know for sure is worth time, money, and effort. Additionally, I am a stringent advocate of a skincare routine, day and night both. I love my skin as much as my babies which is why it’s rare for me to skip the steps of using a good cleanser, moisturizer/serum, eye cream, and SPF (yes, even at home). I tried LOccitane’s newest almond range-all three products with gusto and this is what I have to say:

L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil: Rs 1900 (150 ml)
This product is essentially like a shower gel though it doesn’t feel or look like one unless it comes in contact with water. It’s sparkling, a golden-hued decadent oil that transforms into a lightly lathered cleaning milk upon use. I’m sure most women will agree with me that shower gels have got to be the best-smelling product in the bathroom even more than serums and moisturizers and the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil doesn’t disappoint at all in the fragrance department though it wears off eventually. The aroma of warm almonds and delicious vanilla combined with a steaming hot shower made the experience heavenly and relaxing much like a quickie spa session. Be sure to use this product with a loofah or sponge for better results or it may seem like rubbing lotion all over you.

L’Occitane Almond Shower Scrub: Rs 1650 (200 ml)
Exfoliating your skin is a ritual that’s imperative to those who love their silky smooth skin. While I definitely can’t find the time to exfoliate daily, I do it at least thrice a week, and when coupled with a great product it’s certainly enough. I tried the L’Occitane Almond Shower Scrub and it’s a winner. Not only does it leave behind a subtle yet lasting fragrance, but it also doesn’t seem harsh on my otherwise sensitive skin. The almond shower scrub is enriched with almond oil and crushed shells and melts onto the skin making application easy and non-greasy.

L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil: Rs 3700 (100 ml)
Speaking honestly, I never really tried skin oil as I despise the greasy feeling but to my surprise, the L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil is oil that’s not greasy. It assimilates into the skin leaving behind soft skin with a dewy glow. I recommend using it right after you shower for better absorption. I rub the surplus oil into my nails and can say it’s helping. The product is an amalgamation of oils like almond, Muscat rose bush oil, camelina seeds, and carrot vegetable oil. The L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil comes in a pretty glass spray bottle which is inconvenient and super slippery. Unless the brand is making a point saying that is how smooth your skin will feel, it is a drawback and a nuisance. A spraying pump wouldn’t hurt too!
