With its amazing doughy crusts, gooey delicious cheese, and variety of possible toppings, there’s no surprise that pizza is the choice comfort food of many. While there are some brands doing delectable but high-calorie pizzas, I think to myself: has India disconnected itself from the beauty of authentic and artisanal pizza? My question is answered by a new age pizza brand- Hundo pizza and how!
What’s interesting is that Hundo Pizza is a digital-first food delivery and drive-through pizza brand that has some interesting artisanal pizza variants. The brand is a brainchild of Ronak Rajani, Chef Kabir Moorjani, and Chef Om Nayak-renowned food connoisseurs, so you can expect the real deal.
As for us, we opted for the BBQ Chicken pizza and the Funghi pizza-an interesting vegetarian offering. The Funghi pizza with portobello mushrooms, thyme of Parmesan, and with one of the finest quality San Marzano tomato sauce manages to tick all the right boxes. The truffle oil drizzle adds the perfect zing to it. It passes the pizza test with flying colors.
Meanwhile the BBQ Chicken pizza with Pepperoncino chilies, jalapeños, and cherry tomatoes with fresh buffalo mozzarella bursts with freshness, deliciousness and is definitely a treat to devour. Overall, I loved the nuanced sauces used, the freshness of the ingredients, and the perfect crust the pizzas boast of.
I love how the menu is a mix of classics true to its nature, new age favourites, and slightly experimental and fun options to choose from. Be it the Margherita, Four Cheese, Funghi, and Greca to name a few for vegetarians to all-time favourite Spicy BBQ Chicken, Pepperoni, Chorizo, Bacon Carbonara for the non- vegetarians. There is also a Vegan Margherita which is served with vegan plant-based cheese.
Furthermore, I love how the glorious, hand-tossed, tomato sauced pizzas proved to me that at least some gourmet pizzas back in the city are alive and kicking. Hundo Pizza definitely makes the cut.
