Review: Up in the ‘AER”: We try the recently-added offerings at the swanky rooftop bar

Going beyond the basics, the 34th-floor opulent rooftop bar-Aer at Four Seasons Mumbai rightly has been a hotspot for indulgent sundowners and glamorous night outs. As we sipped our cocktail, gazing at the dreamy landscape below, we fell in love with this one.

Right from the super stylish entrance to the vibe the relishing drinks to the finger food, everything is swish and gorgeous here. We tried a couple of things from the food menu.

The rooftop is also basking in its 10-year anniversary.  Deepak Shettigar, Beverage Manager shared, “With the aim to offer a more evolved beverage experience that is eclectic yet local at heart, we’ve drawn up an exciting list of cocktails that is rich in locally available ingredients, yet still unique. These include Clarity, AER’s modern take on the classic Bloody Mary, made with vodka, clarified tomato and basil, lime, salt, ajwain, and basil tincture, garnished with an ajwain leaf; The Lucky Nut, paying homage to the humble coconut and its multipurpose uses in an Indian household, infused with coconut fat wash whiskey, passion fruit, pineapple juice, and bitters; All that Bitters, a biting combination of kasoori methi-infused gin and lime juice; Sassy Peach, inspired by a Whiskey Sour, featuring a mix of Lacto-fermented peach puree, Scotch whiskey, and lime; and Pickle Me Up, house-pickled gherkins, turmeric syrup, tequila, and lime. “Spot everyday ingredients like ajwain, Kasuri methi and raw turmeric in unusual concoctions that are sure to leave you asking for more.”

My favorite from the night was the well-spiced Crispy Calamari- crispy on the outside and hands down, one of the best ones I have gorged on! And surely a perfect appetizer that anyone can munch on before the main meal. The Barbecue Chicken Poutine, the ultimate fries, cheese and gravy combo is an indulgence, completely satisfying and definitely pleases the taste buds. We also opted for the Original Nachos combined with guacamole and sour cream. The cheddar and super fresh herbs enhances the textures making the flavors incredibly balanced, yet each shine in their own way.The threaded chicken which is the deliciousness of wonton wrapped supreme and onion rings was simple and understated yet delicious.I can’t think of a better way to satisfy a grumbling stomach.

For desserts, we tried the S’Mores Cookies ‘n’ Cream which was both eye-catching and positively luscious. A perfect end to a soul-warming meal. At Aer, it is pretty hard to decide what steals the show. We couldn’t decide whether it was the ravishing view, the incredible food, and drinks or the great vibe that cast its spell over us. Dazzled by the level of service, the flavors, the food and the vibe you might want to spend all night here!
