Restaurants and cafes in UAE are known for their excesses, think gold-dusted burgers to gold-dipped desserts. In a cluttered market like this, for sure, it isn’t easy to stand out because top-notch quality and innovation go hand-in-hand here. That said, I recently tried some inventive Ramadan-themed dessert offerings by SugarFoo that have not failed to delight dessert lovers with their offerings.
The name, SugarMoo, suitably quirky for such a business, represents the two most common ingredients for desserts — sugar and milk. In keeping with that train of thought, the company prefers to keep its ingredients list full with familiar names, choosing to go down the natural route for its dessert offerings.
It launched their first-ever sit-down concept at One Third Food Hall – the UAE’s first concept featuring only homegrown brands situated in Dar Wasl, a new community in Jumeirah, Dubai, that aims to form development of affordable, good quality, and innovative food and beverage concepts that empower talented entrepreneurs. We love how it keeps innovating with interesting offerings and twists. They added the Date My Coffee Cheesecake and Kunafeh Cheesecake to the menu, which I tried.
The Kunafeh Cheesecake combines the flavors of a Classic Kunafeh in a silky smooth New York Baked Cheesecake. One bite of the silken goodness with its topping packing the perfect crunch tantalizingly teased my tastebuds. Being a coffee lover who is very particular about her cup o’ joe, I was looking to test the Date My Coffee Cheesecake. I have to admit that at first, I was skeptical about the combination of coffee and dates in a cheesecake. Still, one bite of this decadent goodness, and I was surprised how good the unusual combination tasted. It’s a Coffee Cheesecake lover’s dream brought to life.
The products totally justify the premium prices and are visually appealing (a big brownie-point). I’m told that the company uses natural ingredients, avoids mixes, and does not use chemicals or preservatives. The company’s HealthyMoo line offers five items with sugar-free and dairy-free options. Much like its slogan of fulfilling sweet cravings, SugarMoo definitely serves guilty pleasures with finesse and love.
