The Cannes International Film Festival currently has the world’s attention thanks to some amazing cinematic moments but even the most serious movie buffs will take an opportunity to let their hair down and party hard. Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen’s annual yacht party is supposed to be a legendary affair that takes place on his 414-foot yacht, the Octopus- supposedly one of the grandest super yachts in the world boasting with 40 guest suites, a pool, two helicopter pads and a mini submarine. This year’s theme was Bollywood and the star studded guest list included Amy Poehler, John C. Reilly, Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Lowndes and Lily Donaldson among others.
The party supposedly included a Bollywood dance performance, extravagant décor including elephant statues. Guests were also invited to try out henna tattoos. At some point Mr. Allen himself was part of the entertainment as he played his electric guitar alongside his band. A few images reveal the lit up vessel to look every bit as glamorous as you can imagine. In fact, as the Daily Mail pointed out, despite there being presumably a few hundred guests aboard, the sheer size of the yacht makes it look empty!
When you attend a party like this, you want the world to know. More than a few attendees took to their Instagram to share inside images of their wild night. When you’re partying with the 51st richest man in the world, you’re not going to want to keep it a secret! Those of us still on dry land, have only the pictures to go by.
