The eclectic store Bombay Electric takes India to Selfridges


As part of its celebrations of the V&A’s Fabric of India exhibition, this concept store opens its first international outpost at the luxury departmental store Selfridges, in London.

Bombay Electric is well known for unearthing and discovering original talent in Indian fashion and showcasing it at their store. Encouraging new and emerging designers brings together an interesting variety of pieces in their store. With lively colours and funky designs it is always an interesting store to browse though and invariably pick up something. Their pop-up at Selfridges will have accessories, unique knick knacks from all over India and vibrant
ready to wear pieces, by designers like Manish Arora, Little Shiplap and Gaurav Gupta.

Five top British designers have joined hands with this brand and have created limited edition saris that will be made available at Selfridges and at Bombay Electric’s Mumbai store. They certainly do have their heart in the right place, as the profits from the sale of these saris will go to the Elephant Family, a charity organization working to protect the endangered Asian elephants.

The Bombay Electric pop-up at the Selfridges opens on October 5th 2015 in the first floor atrium. The V&A exhibition, The Fabric of India runs until 10th January 2016.
