The latest spa offering at The Westin Garden City Mumbai includes the star of the season – the kiwi. Following closely behind the blueberry and avocado treatments, this seasonal therapy has nourishing benefits of its own.
What the treatment has to offer? Well, I for one was super happy about the kiwi treatment given that its vitamin and antioxidant content are great for the sniffles the season has brought along. The restoring scrub is an amalgam of natural ingredients like kiwi, honey, vitamin E oil and aloe vera gel.
I was greeted by my therapist for the day, Passang Bhutia, who welcomed me with a cup of soothing Chamomile tea and a piece of sugar-free chocolate to munch on. Much like the previous treatments, this too would end with a tall glass of kiwi smoothie to ensure that the treatment provides both internal and external nourishment.
After sipping on my tea, I was led to the lounge area for a quick steam session, following which we made our way to the Mint Room for the treatment.
If you’re keen on some kiwi restoration, we suggest you book an appointment with the spa a day in advance. I was told that the spa requires time to source fresh ingredients to treat your skin with.
The treatment began with a quick body massage, which unknotted my tired muscles and prepped my body for the pampering it was about to receive. The cool mixture soothes the skin and I was told that I would experience a slight tingling sensation in case I was bitten by mosquitoes because the antioxidants in the fruit work instantly on the skin to detoxify it.
After the body scrub, the masseuse packed me up in a plastic sheet and the snugness was a real welcome given the chilly temperature. While my body absorbed the ingredients applied on to it, my face was massaged and scrubbed with the mixture. This was followed by a much needed head massage that culminated the treatment wonderfully.
Although it takes a while to notice the effect of the treatment, my skin felt supple and light instantly. The fruit, which is packed with vitamin C, adds brightness to the complexion as well. I looked forward to the smoothie at the end of the session, which perfectly concluded the holistic treatment for the evening.
