If you are a health-conscious person, you will know that one of the most important ways of ensuring good health is to get adequate sleep. Comfort is number one when it comes to getting that much-needed shut-eye. With the luxury market flourishing, indulging in that perfect mattress that promises one comfy opulent nap is definitely possible, provided you have the moolah. For all those who have no qualms about indulging in luxurious mattresses, we present you with a list of some of the most expensive mattresses in the market today. Number one on the list is the $69,500 Vividus king-size mattress set from Hästens Sängar AB, Sweden. The pricey mattress is literally a work of art, taking 160 hours to assemble by hand and featuring exquisite trimmings such as a Swedish-pine frame with thick layers of horsehair, cotton, flax, and wool inside.

The $33,000 hand-tufted, king-size Palais Royale mattress and box spring from E.S. Kluft & Co. is currently the most expensive American-made mattress set on the market and number two on our list. It takes 10 artisans about three days to make the Palais Royale, which contains 10 layers and more than 10 pounds of cashmere, mohair, silk, and New Zealand wool. But the company’s upcoming offering, a $44,000 mattress dubbed the Kluft’s Sublime model, is already set to rule the roost when launched later this year. The Sublime has a layer of horsehair for resiliency.
The $27,500 king-size Hästens 2000T mattress also deserves mention in the luxury mattress category.
For those who wish to pull out all stops and indulge in some of the most opulent mattresses’ ever, Italian company Magniflex has designed a line of luxury mattresses which are covered with fabric containing 22-carat gold.
The high-end luxury mattress market has a variety of mattresses that will satiate the buyer’s various needs. Hollandia International’s “3-D fabric,” with raised fibers, creates ventilation while customizable mattresses from Organic Mattresses Inc. feature layers of latex in varying firmness to suit the customer. Heck, some mattresses even feature unexpected materials such as aloe-vera or lavender built into the top layers.
There are less expensive options available, with many companies offering exquisite mattresses below the 20k mark. The Tempur-Cloud Luxe collection, which is all set to be released later this year, will include a softer version of its signature Tempur foam, which conforms, with body heat, to the sleeper’s shape. A king set with an advanced adjustable base system costs $9,000.
The list is just never ending. But we hope this summary of the current lavish offerings in the luxury bedding market gives you a glimpse of the changing trends and priorities of the buyer when it comes to investing in a good night’s sleep.
