While Supreme’s recent collaboration for the MTA MetroCards may have been laughed off on the Internet, the brand couldn’t care less as thousands of New Yorkers are already eager to get their hands on these unique limited edition cards. While the marquee has linked with a number of brands in the past, including the recent tie-up with LV for the Autumn-Winter Show, its association with MTA is surprisingly unusual. However, the collaboration looks nothing short of promising as can be gathered from the unending ques outside the stations that are currently selling these branded cards.

As per NYCT’s tweet, a limited number of these cards are currently put into machines at the Broadway-Lafayette stop, Prince Street, Spring Street, Atlantic Avenue, Union, Marcy Ave in Williamsburg, Queens Plaza, and the 125th street in Harlem. The quirky MetroCard which retailed for $5.50 at the Supreme store and $75 at metro stations, is already being resold on eBay for as much as $1000! Some of these listings were bizarrely posted even before the cards became publically available!
While, neither Supreme nor the MTA have confirmed on the actual number of the cards that will be sold, it is likely that only a small number will be up for grabs. The Supreme MetroCards are a part of the brand’s spring/summer collection that also showcases a trendy jacket-line. Further, the brand’s initiative also doubles as a subtle urge for the youth to resort to the means of community transport in an endeavor to prevent pollution hazards. Let’s take a couple of minutes to give that a thought, shall we?
