Forbes magazine just released its latest list of the richest women in Europe. Taking the place as queen at no.1 is Liliane Bettencourt (right), daughter of the man who founded cosmetics giant L’Oreal. Being his daughter could have been the best thing that happened to her but now she can add another feather to her cap. I am sure she has a hand in making L’Oreal the name it is. Bettencourt is the richest woman in Europe with a fortune of $22.9 billion. That astounding figure also makes her the world’s richest woman, the magazine notes. What’s remarkable is that the heiress has not spent all her money on her products instead uses her money to fund a charitable foundation that supports medical research, cultural projects, and humanitarian relief. Second to Liliane Bettencourt is Swedish citizen Birgit Rausing. Rausing is a packaging heiress with an estimated fortune of $14 billion, while No. 3 is BMW and pharmaceuticals heiress Susanne Klatten, with $13.2 billion. J.K Rowling, the renowned author of the Harry Potter series barely scrapes into the list with a not-so-great- fortune of about $1 billion coming last at no.22. Woman power is at its best again!
