Gucci will be launching a limited-edition book next week, showcasing the label’s pre-fall collection, with images taken by ace photographer Derek Ridgers. The tome is titled Hortus Sanitatis — ‘The Garden of Health’ in Latin — name from the first natural history encyclopaedia, published in 1485 in Germany. The elegant pale-blue cover with gold foil detailing adorns the page edges of the entire volume. It is wrapped in a red cotton pouch with super cool skull and crossbones. Currently, it will be restricted to a limited print-run of thousand copies.
Within its pages are a series of monochrome and multi-colour images portraying models sporting Gucci’s pre-fall collection. They are shot by Ridgers in royal locations of Rome. The publication will be available for purchase from July 5th for £75 (RM412). The official launch is planned at the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum in Paris. It will be power-packed with a special book-signing event.
Gucci’s Hortus Sanitatis can then be bought from various locations worldwide. Including Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market and Dashwood in New York, Arcana in Los Angeles, Dover Street Market in London, Daikanyama T-Site in Tokyo, 10 Corso Como in Milan, Minishop in Madrid, Wer-Haus in Barcelona, Addicted and Boon the Shopi n Seoul, among others.
