In a first the UAE is offering the coveted Emirati citizenship to ‘talented and innovative’ individuals

In a one of its kind initiative, UAE is welcoming ex-pats to apply for citizenship based on sheer talent. Yes, that’s right! The new process is set up by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai) and could be a big boon for Non-Emirates to settle in the gulf land.

Taking to Twitter, his highness announced, “We adopted law amendments that allow granting the UAE citizenship to investors, specialized talents & professionals including scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, authors, and their families.” He further added, “The new directives aim to attract talents that contribute to our development journey. The UAE cabinet, local Emiri courts & executive councils will nominate those eligible for citizenship under clear criteria set for each category. The law allows receivers of the UAE passport to keep their existing citizenship.”

As per the novel development, doctors, scientists, specialists from certain categories, and talented persons such as intellectuals, artists, and creatives can acquire UAE citizenship via the application. The individual will be required to swear the oath of allegiance and comply with Emirati laws to obtain and retain the said status, which was previously open only for wives of Emiratis, children of Emirati fathers, and long-standing citizens holding a presidential decree.

Well, if you’re talented and are interested in shifting base to the Emirates, consider applying for the above ASAP!
