Monumite: A $23,670 sculpture that pays tribute to Marmite

It’s usually famous personalities, who are immortalized in stone sculptures, as a unique way to pay tribute to them. But if you visit Burton on Trent you will see that the folks there recognize not just famous personalities but even products. Yes, in the heart of Burton on Trent, overlooking the river is a unique stone sculpture of a giant Marmite jar. The structure, dubbed Monumite cost a cool £15,000 ($23,670) is carved from Portland Stone and pays tribute to the famous yeast spread. According to a spokesperson, Burton was chosen as the location for this unique structure as it is Marmite’s spiritual home and a town which has been closely associated with the brewing industry for many centuries. Either “love it or hate it” but there is no way you can ignore this unique sculpture.
