Roy Stuart Dragon longboard with 23-karat gold inlay is up for $1.3 million

Roy Stuart, the Big Kahuna of handcrafted New Zealand wooden surfboards, has added to his extensive portfolio another great work of art, a 13-9feet long surfboard. Earlier in 2000, the artist had created a custom wooden longboard, dubbing it the Dragon. Though this work of his was never offered for sale, now the surfboard crafter has created an enhanced version of the Dragon and has put it up for sale with a hefty price tag of $1.3 million.

Made of empress-wood board, Stuart hasn’t included industry standard foam or glass composites for making the board, instead the famous artist has made use of his parallel profile pre-loaded torsion box assembly, which offers a ratio of 1:63.

Owing to this ratio the rider can be promised an exceptional flex response, a smooth ride and an undulating stance.

The board flaunts a tear drop plan shape that has been perfectly contoured. However so, the highlight of this surfboard, referred as ‘Queen of Diamonds’ by the maker, is the 23-karat gold dragon inlay with aquamarine eyes.
