There’s nothing a melodious tune on the piano can’t fix. And giving you an opportunity to create one in style is the manufacturer of the world’s finest pianos – Steinway & Sons. The marquee has created a new limited-edition masterpiece in association with renowned singer and artist – Lenny Kravitz, now available for purchase worldwide.
Aptly christened as the ‘Kravitz Grand,’ the instrument takes inspiration from the African themes utilized in paintings, sculpture, and fabric design from the Parisian art scene of the 1920s. It consists of 15 layers of hard rock, maple, and rare Macassar ebony along with exquisite hand-carved motifs on the piano rim, the inner lid, and the music desk, and hand-carved, block-style piano legs in black ebony finish.
Most of the design elements on the luxe model are envisioned and hand-picked by Kravitz himself, such as the “crackle” metallic finish on the cast iron plate, solid bronze castings for the top stick and pedal lyre, custom metal finishes for the pedals, brass music trays, hinges, and a numbered brass “Edition” plaque.
Commenting on the premium edition, Ron Losby, CEO of Steinway Musical Instruments, said, “The Kravitz Grand is one of the most interesting takes on a 167-year-old classic design. Lenny has been a fantastic partner with an extraordinary eye for design…This collaboration with Lenny allowed us to take our history and heritage of creating the best pianos and put a unique spin on the design that no one has ever seen before.”
Retailing for $500,000, only 10 models of the Kravitz Grand is available for purchase worldwide, with proceeds from the sale partly going to the Harlem School for the Arts. Luxury in music cannot get better than this!
