Tokyo is top contender for 2016 Olympics with its green mission

For all those who think nothing can beat the pompous preparations of last year’s Beijing Olympics, think again. Tokyo, one of the top contenders for the 2016 Olympics, is all set to surprise the world with its ‘green’ preparations. The last time they were host to this event was in 1964. So this time, Tokyo has promised a few innovative things like a solar planet, a new stadium made of solar panels on the roof at the seafront with 10,000 seating capacity, electric and hybrid cars on the roads, and carbon credits to reduce emissions to offset any pollution caused by the event. Scoring 8.3 points out of 10 in a preliminary review and a fund of $3.115 billion as operating budget and a $4.051 billion for its non-organizing committee budget, Tokyo is all set to be a winner of this challenge.
