Uber is starting a brand new chapter this year with the announcement that they will make same-day deliveries for a number of big brands in select US cities. Nordstrom, Rent the Runway, 1800Flowers, Cole Haan and Google Express are among the brands listed, so soon enough you’ll have the option to have your purchases delivered in a matter of hours rather than days.
“You don’t have to be an Uber user. You don’t have to have an Uber app. Any business can use it,” Calvin Lee, a product manager with the UberRush (the delivery arm of Uber) told Mashable. “The point of the offering is that we can reach a lot of different customers.”
“UberRush is operational in three cities currently, but the partners that we work with have large global footprints,” Lee says. “This is a new experience. What we want to do is be really thoughtful about the experience we are providing and make sure we get everything right before we rapidly scale the offering.” UberRush is available right now in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
We especially like the idea of same day delivery from Nordstrom. Last minute shopping was always an in-store task, but this might mean you can actually combine online promotions and sales with the convenience of shopping from home or work. So if someone invites you to a party at the last minute, you can actually have a brand new outfit delivered the same day with time to spare!
