World’s most expensive cake is worth $35 million

One expensively delicious offering, this pricey cake is contending for the title of the world’s most expensive cake. Christened the “Pirates Fantasy,” this cake was crafted and designed by Chef D.K (Dimuthu Kumarasinghe), Group Skills Development Chef, Aitken Spence Hotels Heritance Hotels & Resorts.

Aptly named, this ten-layered cake is truly every pirate’s dream treasure trove adorned with then different stones belonging to the sapphire family, with the most expensive and the rarest one being a “Padmaraja” or the ‘King Sapphire” and ten pieces of jewelry ranging from necklaces, bracelets, rings, brooches pendants, tie pins, cuff links to nose rings and toe rings.
And if you can get your eyes away from all the glitter to the edible parts of the cake, you will be bowled over with the delicious flavors. Every layer of the cake boasts of a different flavor, each of which is made using some of the most exotic ingredients such as cinnamon, zucchini, purple yam, coconut chips as well as pistachio, rosemary, almond cookies, white chocolate, coconut meringue, baked cheese, sweet wineberry, pineapple, walnut, pumpkin, and lemon.
The cake was unveiled amongst great fanfare recently at Heritance Ahungalla, with prominent Sri Lankan and English cricketers in attendance. One lip-smacking creation, this expensive cake with its hefty price tag will surely make it to the record books.
