There’s an old saying that describes dogs as “man’s best friend”; however, I have always felt the connection is much deeper than that, for I consider my dog as my own child – I guess that’s how the term ‘pet parents’ got coined. My heart breaks when I come across stories of abandoned dogs on the internet. It baffles me how can someone be so cruel and heartless to discard a poor soul like garbage. Yet, the internet also brings heartwarming stories that restore my faith in humanity. This story is about a family from Cobb County, Georgia, and their dog named Marley that went missing in September last year. The Kirchner family has left no stone unturned to find their beloved pooch, but sadly nothing has proven to be successful till now. Out of desperation, Derek is now offering his 2016 Chevy Corvette Z51 as a reward to Marley’s finder along with $4000.

“When I think of Marley still being out there — if she is still out there or someone has her — I know she wants to be with us,” said Derek Kirchner. “Just thinking about that, it breaks my heart.” Marley is a 35-pound, 4-year-old, charcoal and white Whippet mix. What makes the story even more endearing is that Marley is a rescue who was adopted a few years ago from the Cherokee County Humane Society.

On an unfortunate day, she took off through an open door at the family’s rental house on Hilton Head Island and ran toward the beach. Since then, Derek has been constantly searching for Marley in Hilton Head. He has been distributing pamphlets and spreading the news by biking around the town. He even took help from psychics. “She’s a huge part of our family and we have to get her back,” Alex Kirchner told Fox News. Hopefully, the ‘Vette Z51 and the cash reward might bring an end to this long search for Marley with a happy ending to this story.
