If you want to know what it’s like inside the barbie world, take a look at this exclusive holiday home in Madrid. Complete with 12 shades of pink, the monochromatic Patricia Bustos Studios create yet luxe house (dubbed Minimal Fantasy) as the ideal holiday destination.
Touted as ‘Aesthetic madness’ and what the designer calls ‘a manifesto of the three Ss’ — surprise, singularity and sense’, the 55-square-meter apartment is set inside a 1950s residential building. It is located at a stone’s throw from Madrid’s lively Puerta del Sol square and is perfect for tourists.
Originally consisting of one bedroom and one bathroom, the apartment has been re-configured to include two bedrooms and an additional bathroom, and a kitchen and living area that comprises a flecked pink laminate and plush pink sofa cushions.
The home also boasts an oval-shaped pink dining table, dining chairs upholstered in metallic pink fabric, and a mixture of blue, pink, and gold geometric shapes in the kitchen. The all-pink scheme continues in the bedrooms with a scalloped pink headboard, baby-pink lamé soft cushions and faux-fur throws, and pink-tile bathrooms with pink-frame vanity mirrors and shiny pink shower curtains.
Commenting on it, the studio said: ‘Pink vindicates the fall of stereotypes…Everything is possible, nothing is planned or established, and that’s the beauty of it. That there are no rules…or rather that everyone has their own. That’s why it’s the color of a new generation that fights for its dreams and finds its way as it goes along, without maps or advice…just following the heart and intuition.’
