Prime Minister of Qatar is rumored to buy the $100 million penthouse in New York

If you are at the helm of power in Qatar, how would you celebrate that wealth? By splurging, of course, and you need to be Sheik Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber al-Thani to do it in style. Qatar’s prime minister has been rumored to be eager to spend $100 million to pick up the city’s most expensive penthouse. The luxurious home features an ultra-luxe, two-story pad that sits on top of the under-construction One57 condominium.

Apart from the 10,923-square-foot pad, the PM also talked about picking up a cluster of four separate, full-floor condos in the 90-story One57 building at 157 W. 57th St. This entire purchase will cost around $250 million. The penthouse sports a “grand salon,” a large mezzanine, four fireplaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, at least five bedrooms, and motorized window shades.
Considering his family of two wives and 15 children, plus the security troops have seen several co-op boards seeing red. Since he enjoys diplomatic immunity, the building can’t do much to serve legal notice to get dues cleared. With the amount at stake, anyone would think twice, I say! Since it’s just a rumor for now, better take it with a pinch of salt.
