Just recently Lexus has uncovered more information about its 2008 GS sedan. They have added a new model to the lineup of the GS 460. The new sensual beast on wheels is powered by the 4.6 liter V8 found in the LS. But it is revealed that the GS will not receive the same direct-injection system that the LS uses, resulting in a slight power loss. The new GS460 will deliver 342 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph. An eight-speed automatic carried over from the LS should deliver enough performance and enough smoothness to meet the needs of a variety of GS demographics.
The GS 350 is mostly unchanged, but both models gain a number of new features, including a new 17-inch wheel design, color-keyed exterior mirrors with turn signals, tinted glass that blocks Ultraviolet and infrared rays, a revised instrument panel, a more conveniently placed fuel lid opener and trunk release, and ventilated front seats on the 460 model. A light-grey interior color is now offered, and wood trim selections include Dark Gray Birds-Eye Maple wood trim (with Light Gray interior). Wood trim is now offered on the door switch plate. You can order from Golden Almond Metallic and Opaline Pearl shades. The new GS 350 will start at $44,150 with the new GS 460 model priced from $52,620. The hybrid GS 450h will start at $54,900.
