There is just something about the grandeur of a superyacht that drive us to feature an exclusive design or launch, time and again. This week, we take you on a luxurious voyage aboard the 37 meter Heesen Aurelia from Heesen Yachts. Launched ahead of schedule in June 2011, Aurelia catches your attention almost immediately with her unique exterior color scheme, inspired by Gulf Racing. Her light blue and orange decal evoking an association with this legendary racing team give this yacht a sporty and retro feel. The finishing touches are added by the number 10, which is also her hull number.
Frank Laupman of Omega Architect takes full credit for the exterior design of this beauty, while Dobroserdov Design deserves a pat on the back for the unique color scheme. The race car inspiration and theme are carried into the interior as well, with each guest cabin being named after car designers and the superyacht’s name being a tribute to the first-ever GT Lancia Aurelia. Bannenberg & Rowell have done complete justice to the interiors of Aurelia. With four guest cabins on board, the Aurelia is large enough to accommodate 8 guests.
The main saloon is divided into a dining area and a lounge space featuring a round dining table. The
lounge with comfy armchairs and sofa sets is made cozier by the Eco Smart fire place. Small details like
the Bentley-seats inspired diamond upholstered ceiling, and green Aston chairs, reminiscent of the
famous Aston Martin “mouth grill”, the leather belt and stainless steel details all echo the racing theme
of the yacht.
The owner’s quarters are located on the fore main deck and the vessel’s two VIP’s and one twin cabin
are on the lower deck. These owners’ quarters consist of a cabin with office area and lounging areas,
wardrobes and a full beam bathroom. The guest cabins located on the lower deck have a similar design
in Aurelia’s signature style and don’t lack the comfort or the luxury that the yacht exudes. The main aft
deck has been designed as an elegant space for lounging while the sun deck with its many sun beds is all
about sun bathing. What is more, Aurelia also offers additional large sunpads and an intimate cockpit for
some extra privacy.
