Porsche is paying tribute to the legendary Steve McQueen with a stunning version of their iconic 2016 Porsche 911 R. Previously the car was only available in white or silver with either red or green racing stripes. However, the tribute version is painted a custom Slate Grey with silver stripes, a nod to the actor’s color choice for his own Porsche.
While the 500hp engine, custom six-speed gearbox and carbon ceramic brakes are all standard for the 911 R, the tribute version gets an upgrade with bucket seats featuring houndstooth inserts and an illuminated door sill insignia which carries McQueen’s most famous racing quote: “Racing is life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.”
991 units were produced worldwide and this one – number 967- will be on the auction block at RM Sotheby’s next month.
