China is the new hot market for automakers, this is not news. What is news is that it is now the largest market in the world for some automakers. Yes, we hear that China is the largest market for Porsche. The German automaker’s sales in China soared 79 percent to 7,099 cars in the first three months of 2012, leaving the sports car manufacturer’s deliveries to the US trailing at 6,671 vehicles! This rise in sales of luxury goods, namely luxury cars in China, has definitely caught most automakers’ attention.
With China toppling the US when it comes to demand for luxury goods, it will be no surprise if other automakers also soon find their sales rising in China. Worldwide, Porsche has sold 30,231 vehicles in the first quarter, indicating an increase of 29.0 percent.
If the sales in China keep growing, Porsche can expect a happy second quarter as well. Guess we will have to wait and see what the next quarter holds for Porsche. Besides Porsche, Bentley has also confirmed that China is its largest market. Any guesses, which carmaker will be next to call China its largest market?
