Freddie Mercury is a part of Rock and Roll heaven, he along with his band Queen created great songs such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘We Will Rock you’ that somehow seem to get greater with time. His Rolls Royce, a 1974 Silver Shadow seems to have a similar fate as it was sold on the auction block for a startling $120,000. This incredible car was bought for 6 times the original estimate of about $18,000; a Russian businessman bought it via telephone. There is a letter certifying that Mercury’s managing company Goose Productions Ltd bought the car in 1979 for his personal use. The car remained in his possession till his death in November 1991; he has clocked a mere 62,000 miles in his 12 years of possession.
The car is a piece of history that contains a binder filled with receipts as well as the current MoT certificate, it even contains a box of Kleenex Mansize Tissues that were in the car when owned it. The car was auctioned earlier this month at the Coys Autosport International show at the Birmingham NEC.
