General Motors abandons plan to sell Hummer brand

General Motors had taken everyone by surprise when it announced last month that it would be selling its famed Hummer brand to China’s Tengzhong automaker. Alas, the deal has failed to go through, and GM has announced that it will permanently wind down the off-road division as a result. General is very disappointed that the deal could not go through, said John Smith, GM vice president of corporate planning and alliances, “we are disappointed that the deal with Tengzhong could not be completed.” GM will now work closely with Hummer employees, dealers, and suppliers to wind down the business. This news is sure to disappoint numerous Hummer fans across the globe who loved this SUV immensely.

Hummer’s owners need not worry as GM has vowed to honor all Hummer warranties and continue to provide Hummer parts and service to customers around the globe.
