McLaren celebrates its 50th anniversary, unveiling special edition McLaren 50 12C and McLaren 50 12C Spider. Owing to the exclusivity of the occasion, the special editions are the handiworks of the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) team, the division of McLaren Automotive responsible for the delivery of bespoke projects. And courtesy of their expertise, the models have been lavished with upgrades such as a re-modeled CFD-optimized front bumper, new carbon fiber and race-derived carbon Kevlar on the front floor, standard carbon-ceramic brake discs, unique 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, and a full leather upgrade inside the cabin, with carbon fiber accents and floor mats.
The McLaren 50s have also been brandished with a black F1-inspired heritage badge and anniversary dedication plate on the driver’s door, which highlights the limited run.
McLaren 50 12C and 12C Spider would be available in three attractive colors: Carbon Black, Supernova Silver, and Heritage McLaren Orange.
Each unit comes with a monogrammed black and silver car cover, a limited-edition key in a carbon fiber presentation box, and a specially commissioned art print signed by McLaren Automotive’s Design Director, Frank Stephenson.
Only 50 units each of these special editions will be manufactured. The McLaren 50 12C would retail at $296,000 (£196,000) and the McLaren 50 12C Spider at $326,000 (£215,500). Customer deliveries are said to begin by September 2.
