The Big Apple will soon play home to the largest sailing vessel ever to homeport in the city, the Norwegian Breakaway. Built by the Norwegian Cruise Line, this 4000-passenger ship will begin services by April 2013 to complete about 88 cruises in two years. Weighing in at 144,000 tons, the ship also hosts boutique rooms and a luxury private area called ‘The Haven’ that comes with 24-hour butler service, a poolside valet, and white-tablecloth in-room dining. First, the ship will travel 7-day journeys from New York to Bermuda, bringing in 140,000 visitors to the city over two years, who will spend a whopping $35 million in all!
