Sometimes, we simply can’t stop wishing Porsche would reinvent the way its cars look. But then again, the roar of a 911 Carrera drowns out every little protest we’ve got against these fabled supercars. The German automaker has updated its 911 line-up yet again with the updated Carrera 4, Carrera 4 Cabriolet and Targa 4. Under the hood, these cars retain the reliable and acceleration-happy classic flat-six engine that’s synonymous with the 911. All the updated cars come with a 3.0-liter displacement with an output of 370 horsepower and 331 pound-feet torque. The S versions of the aforementioned cars however, produce 420 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque.
To further push these cars well enough, Porsche has made available a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and a Sport Chrono package. With this, the Carrera 4 sprints to 100kmph in 4.1 seconds. The Carrera 4S does the same in 3.8 seconds while the Carrera 4S Cabriolet and Targa 4S touch the 100kmph mark in 4.0 seconds. The cars have top speeds varying from 280kmph to 300kmph, depending on the model and the accompanying performance upgrades. All of these new 911 models will come with the adaptive PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management) system and have a 10-millimeter lower ride height. Porsche will also offer an optional rear-wheel-steering system. Prices are to be announced soon!
