Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder is one mean supercar

One name that has managed to gain a strong foothold in the supercars industry among names like Ferrari, Bugatti, and Lamborghini is Spyker. The Dutch company, founded in 1875, has been building sports cars at a rate of about 60 per year since 2000. But it’s not their rate of production that has impressed us; it’s their latest creation that has stopped us in our tracks. At last month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California, Spyker unveiled the C8 Aileron Spyder, a beauty that will make every supercar enthusiast drool. Handmade from aluminum, this powerful car gets its design inspiration from the company’s aviation heritage. Power is provided by a 400 horsepower 4.2-liter V8 engine pulled from the Audi parts bin.

It is mounted in the middle of the car, and mated to a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters or a six-speed manual with a beautiful exposed shift linkage. The Aileron Spyder can accelerate from zero to 60 in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 187 mph.

The aviation heritage is visible in the company’s logo as well, which incorporates a propeller and a wheel and is placed on the hood, the rear deck and on what has to be the coolest gas cap ever. The company’s Latin motto, ‘Nulla Tenaci Invia Est Via’ (which means “For the tenacious, no road is impassable.”), is inscribed around the tonneau cover.

A beautiful car, both the exterior and the leather interiors are a class apart. Customers can also choose from among 14 colors for the leather interior. There’s also an optional set of Louis Vuitton luggage set which you can place on the luggage rack milled from billet aluminum.
An amazingly cool car, it is definitely a must-buy for every car enthusiast. However, no information is available on the pricing yet.
