The much awaited second generation of the MINI has recently been unveiled in the UK and it is already been acclaimed highly by industry enthusiasts and audiences alike. Upgraded to a longer and wider form, the luxe new version offers an array of novel features as well as functionalities that were clearly a miss in its previous counterparts.
Designed with a focus on enhancing ruggedness and strength, the new MINI retains the core fundamentals of the marquee beautifully while also seamlessly incorporating a range of new details. It is 200mm longer and 30mm wider than before and dons a trendy off- roader look. Taking after the new MINI Clubman’s 8- speed Steptronic automatic, it comes with greater leg and head room front and rear and about 30 percent more cargo space. Further, it offers an all-wheel drive which is perfect for countryside travels.
The second generation car adopts a 3-cylinder gas engine and combines it with an electric motor which makes it quicker to 60 mph than the Cooper S ALL4 due to its instant-on electric motor torque that flows to the rear wheels. Its roaring motor further produces the equivalent of 87 horsepower and generates 122 lb –ft of torque. Amongst a number of new features, the new countryman will be presented in five engine variants – two petrols and two diesels, along with a plug-in hybrid version that will arrive at a later date. Slotted for a February release in the UK, this new luxury off-roader will be priced from £22,465 (27413.59 USD) to £28,430 (34692.56 USD).
