With cruises being so popular in every possible part of the world, it was only a matter of time before anyone started out a luxury cruise at the Amazon and sure enough, a company named Aqua Expeditions picked up on that. A region previously immune to the charms of 280-thread-count sheets and en-suite air conditioning, the company’s boat named the M/V Aqua resembles a floating boutique hotel with a dining room, indoor and outdoor lounges, and an observation deck and boutique. Designed by Peruvian architect Jordi Puig, this boat has eight suites and four master suites that have giant picture windows that will give its occupants a 180-degree view of the river scenery.
Trips on this boat are usually organised around the flooded season in the months between June and November and the dry season that is between December and May. Cruise trips vary between three, four and seven nights and start in Iquitos, Peru. The customers also get to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails in the open air lounge and then get to eat some excellent Peruvian cuisine cooked by one of Lima’s hottest chefs! Rates begin at $1950 per person.
