Owning a luxury vehicle is no more confined to merely enjoying the thrill of driving one. In the age of experience, high-end carmakers are going beyond barriers to provide nothing but the ultimate to their customers. Along similar lines, Volvo recently introduced a new concierge service for proud owners of the brand’s S90 and XC90 variants.
The pilot program that is designed to take off in San Francisco this month aims at extending ease to Volvo owners by running the most basic car errands for them. The luxury carmaker will basically roll out an easy to use smartphone app which displays the available services, including car cleanups to refueling facilities, which can be accessed by users as per their location. Once the user places a request, the system sends an order to the closest participating Volvo service center along with the vehicle location. When the operator arrives at the car’s location, a single-use digital key is used to gain access to the vehicle which has the added security feature of time and location-specific authorization. The app is designed to ensure prime security, leaving the owners hassle-free and out of worry. Further, it also generates alerts to the clients, each time a service is due.
This unique concierge program is a result of intensive customer research that revealed that 70 percent of those interviewed would like more convenient fueling options, 56 percent would like to opt for scheduled servicing pickups and up to 49 percent would like to have a location change option for their car as and when desired. Up to 300 Volvo owners will form part of the trial, with an obvious extension planned in the future. While Volvo hasn’t specified whether the customer will be charged an extra fee for the service or if the same is inclusive in the servicing cost, facilities like this one are certainly sought for by most of us!
