Canadian performance troupe Cirque du Soleil has announced plans to setup an “immersive theme park experience” in Nuevo Vallart, Mexico. Set to open in 2018, the first-of-its kind park will include water park and nature park elements. The park will have the capacity to accommodate as many as 3,000 to 5,000 spectators for evening performances. Each experience within the entertainment park will be animated by Cirque du Soleil artists and follow a common storyline.
Would the Cirque du Soleil actually threaten Disney’s dominance of the market? Well, only time will tell. Cirque fanatics until then can check out Joya, an intimate theatrical and culinary experience developed by Cirque du Soleil and Grupo Vidanta to debut in Riviera Maya on November 21, 2014.
