The aviation industry is hit hard following the coronavirus. However, in ensuring that operations continue seamlessly and safely is Emirates that has recently upgraded its testing parameters for passengers. In addition to the standard thermal scanning, those traveling with the airline are now required to go through rapid blood tests for COVID-19. Yes, that’s right!
The tests are deemed more accurate and are being conducted by the airlines in conjunction with Dubai Health Authority (DHA). They were recently trialed on passengers onboarding a flight to Tunisia from Dubai airport and have proven to be extremely effective. As part of the process, passengers were made to go through the new procedure at the group check-in area of Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, with test results being available in as less as 10 minutes. Additionally, they were required to wear their own masks when at the airport and on board the aircraft and follow social distancing guidelines.
Commenting on it, Emirates CEO Adel Al Redha said: “The testing process has gone smoothly…. We are working on plans to scale up testing capabilities in the future and extend it to other flights, this will enable us to conduct on-site tests and provide immediate confirmation for Emirates passengers traveling to countries that require COVID-19 test certificates. The health and safety of staff and passengers at the airport remain of paramount importance.” Well, tech does make things easy after all!
